Create a View
Add a menu to a package, connect a button, and prepare it for Unreal.
Add the View
- Choose a package in Studio.
- Click + beside Views.
- Enter a name, such as
MainMenu, and confirm. - Studio creates the View, adds it to the selected package, and opens its source.

The New view dialog takes the View's name and a starting template (Empty
here) before Create screen adds it. Use a name that describes the
screen's purpose, such as PauseMenu or Inventory, since it becomes the
View's file and node name.
The Views list contains the selected package's Views. A View is called a Screen in Unreal's Blueprint nodes.
Add content
Create a component with + beside Components, then drag it into the source editor or onto a container in Hierarchy. For an initial example, see Create a component.
Use / in the source editor for project-specific insertions:
| Cursor position | Command | Result |
|---|---|---|
| Inside an opening button tag | Click → Action Contract | Selects a declared game action and inserts the click binding |
| Inside the script section | Store → Read field | Inserts a read for the selected game value and adds its import |
| In template or style source | Asset → Project URI | Inserts the selected asset's name |
For a button that actually runs Blueprint, follow the complete Exit example. Inserting a button or an action name alone does not implement the game's response.
Choose the View's settings
Select the View to open the VIEW Inspector. Choose its layer, input behavior, mouse cursor visibility, and whether it keeps local state when closed. For a mouse-operated menu, enable the cursor and choose an input policy that lets the menu receive input.
Enter and exit settings choose a CSS class and duration. Define the animation in CSS too; the duration alone does not animate anything. See View settings.
Save and open in Unreal
Save and wait for the connected package to show Up to date. Studio builds and imports it as needed. Open Tasks if synchronization fails. Use the package menu's Build package or Validate package for an explicit check.
Then open the screen from Blueprint.
Reuse or organize Views
Open a View's … menu to add it to another package, move it, duplicate it, remove it from the package, or delete its file. Add to package keeps the original assignment. Optional list folders organize the entries without moving source files.
