Understand what component scripts can and cannot access.

Component scripts are isolated from the computer and game engine. They cannot read files, use the network, access Unreal objects, or run arbitrary system code.

Use scripts only for small UI behaviours. Send actions to Unreal when gameplay must change. Studio stops a script that runs for too long and reports its source location in Problems.

Initialization has a separate time limit from interactions. By default, loading a script module or running component setup may take up to 100 ms; an interactive handler has an 8 ms limit. This allows cold startup without relaxing the limit for clicks and other callbacks. Infinite loops are interrupted in both phases. If setup fails, its timers and reactive subscriptions are discarded rather than carried into the next component instance.
