Components
Keep Components Easy to Reuse
Simple habits for maintainable buttons, panels, and lists.
- Give a component one clear purpose, such as a menu button or inventory row.
- Pass text and options through props, so you can reuse it without copying its source.
- Use slots for content supplied by the parent.
- Use actions for game requests and local events for the parent UI.
- Give each repeated item a stable
ui:keyfrom its real ID. A list position changes during reordering and cannot identify the item reliably. - For hover effects, change color or
transformso nearby controls do not move. - Keep scripts short and limited to local UI behavior.
After editing a shared component, check a View that uses several copies with different props. Then test its gameplay interaction in Unreal.
